Vol. 4 Finding Country Magazine (May 2021)

The fourth issue of Finding Country featured many "firsts" for our publication. From our first guest contributor to the announcement of W.B. Miley as our editor, May represented a month of growth. There are a wide array of stories in this month's issue, including:
  • Gardening Tips from Great Depression Grandparents: We shouldn't discount the experiences of our elders, especially when their advice may be more important to our survival than ever. Discover new thrifty and production-oriented tips for gardening from a generation who shaped and, in some ways, redefined the role of the garden.
  • How a Singer and Teacher Made a Living in the Country: An interview between the inherited owners of a TN Century Farm, Steve and Wanda Turner, comes alive as we explore the lifestyle characteristics that make life in a rural area financial feasible and spiritually fulfilling.
  • What's All the Fuss About Goats?: Wanda Turner walks us through her 18 year history of raising goats. If you've ever wondered what it's really like to own goats, you'll love this story full of behind-the-scenes descriptions of the goat life and practical tips for caring for these creatures.

Vol. 2 Finding Country Magazine (March 2021)

The second issue of Finding Country Magazine features a wide array of stories that touch on critical rural issues like affordable healthcare and economic development. We even introduce a new segment of the magazine, rural fiction.
  • Rural economic development: Who is responsible for attracting new businesses, retaining local businesses, and improving the job prospects for area residents in rural areas? We explore the complex process of stimulating rural economies with Brenda Brock, economic development director for Hickman County, TN.
  • Will independent doctors survive COVID-19: We provide insight into this very important question after interviewing the only independent doctor in Hickman County, as well as the executive director of AID, the Association for Independent Doctors, who says rural hospitals may have a fighting chance.
  • Hurt in the Neighborhood: In our first installment of Rural Fiction, imagine the toll a neighbor's suicide takes on the entire cul-de-sac.

  • Co-working space in the middle of the country: Lisa Arnold left her executive corporate job to help small businesses in her community gain new skills and access opportunities to grow. See exactly how she did it in this exclusive Q&A!
